Secretary’s Corner
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
I just went to a Memorial Service for Brother Richard Edgar
St. Martin at Oak Grove Church. Most of
you remember Dick. He was very active
in Jobs, Masons and OES in Faribault Lodge.
We in old King Solomen called on him for help in degree work. I will always remember when putting on a
degree he would get up and say to Ed Bender, “Well which side do you want, the
questions or the answers.” They both
would do their part without error. Both
were remarkable men. Following is life!
Some Masons still need to pay for their 2000 dues in the
Lodge. If you are one of these people,
please contact the lodge.
Kermit Bischoff – Secretary
On September 7, 2000 there will be a meeting for those
people that helped at Kolacky Days or want to learn how an event like this
works. The meeting will be held at
Richter’s Woods at 7:00 pm. At the
meeting there will be a discussion on the following:
1.
How things went at Kolacky Days.
2.
What could be done differently to continually help improve the
stand for next year?
This is a good meeting for people to attend, if you would
like to see an event in your community.
If we want to do some events like Kolacky Days in the future, a person
from that community will have to be the chairperson. We need that tie between the community and the lodge, for
relations. We believe that without that
common factor it is harder to run an event.
So mark this date on your calendar and attend.
Steve Scheffert
Events in September
We have a few very important dates in September to make sure
that they are on your Calendar.
1.
The first date is on September
18, 2000 at 7:30 pm. We will be
performing the degree of Entered Apprentice for Mr. Paul Tuttle. Paul, is the son of Bill Tuttle, who was a
Past Master from the old King Hiram Lodge, in Jordan.
2.
The second date is on September
22, 2000, at 7:00 pm. If you have
not called in your RSVP to Mike Pierce or Steven Scheffert, you have to do so by
the final date of September 8th. We have to
get the count into the caterer. There will be no late additions after the
final deadline.
3.
Check the calendar for the dates of the next lodge
meeting. We are going back to the
Saturday morning meetings.
4.
After the September 16th meeting, we will be having
the last practice for the degree work.
If you received a letter from me in early August with a role, you need
to attend. We will open on the first
degree that night.
From the Master/Publications Committee.
I would just like to take a few moments and write to
everyone that I have really enjoyed working on the newsletter. However, with the increasing demand on my
schedule as Master, and especially with my new work responsibilities, this will
be the last newsletter. Once a suitable
person is found to resume the newsletter.
I will work with that person to make sure all the information is
transferred over. I will continue to
work with the various committees and mail out fliers for special events, when
needed. If you are interested in
working on the newsletter, please contact me.
I would also like to make a proposal to the members of this
lodge, while I’m thinking about it, and that is for the lodge to obtain a
computer, with a system to back up large amounts of information. The lodge would then have all of their
information on a small disk and then could easily store that in a small safe to
protect the information. I also have a
lot of lodge information that is on my computer alone and if my computer failed
it would be lost and take a lot of time to recreate. We need to get my information, onto a more suitable computer for
use.
Another reason I bring this up about the computer for the
lodge is that I will be moving before my term as Worshipful Master is over and
need to transfer all of my lodge information over. My new job responsibilities will take my family and me to
Nebraska in late winter or early spring.
I will continue to perform the duties of the Worshipful Master to the
best of my ability, until my move.
With my new promotion at work, it will require me to travel
more. During those times of my
absentence, I have spoken with our Senior Warden, Don Rieck, and he will work
on issues that may arise. Please give
him a call, if I am not available. I
have spoken about this to some of the more regular members of the lodge, but
wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know and make sure you all have
the same information.
See you at the next lodge meeting on September 5, at 7:30.
Steven Scheffert – Worshipful Master.
