A message from the Web master

Greetings:

For the most part the website is completely updated. I apologize to those that have been trying to get on the site over the past week. I have been doing a lot of work with it and setting up the behind the scenes stuff for future growth and easier management. By doing this, the website may not have functioned properly and some items on the site may not have been viewed correctly.

First, I want to personally thank a fellow Brother for helping me, and especially the Lodge, out. A huge thanks goes to Brother Tom Hone. Part of the behind the scenes stuff that Tom helped us out with is donating two programs (along with his time with me and in the past), so that the Lodge can enjoy a website. The programs that are needed to create web pages and the certain file types is in the several hundred-dollar range. Tom was gracious enough to supply these to us. With that in mind, I would like to encourage everyone who sees Tom to tell him "Thank You" for his help with this project.

Website Info

  1. The new newsletters are now available as a PDF file which will require the new Acrobat Reader Program 5.1 (Free Software). You will still be able to view the older files with an older version of Acrobat Reader, but all of the new files will need 5.1. The new version will also let you still read the old files. When you go to a newsletter website, scroll down to the bottom and select the Acrobat Reader Button. This will take you directly to the screen to download it. When at the Acrobat Reader Screen, scroll down again and you will see the 1-2-3 step explanation on how to download it.
  2. If anybody has any Masonic items or especially any good Masonic Links to other websites, let me know and I can add them.
  3. I would like to also add a section for committee reports. If a committee presents any reports (except financial numbers) I would like to place it out on the website. The reason I personally don't want to add any financial number reports on the website is because it can be viewed by anybody who has access to the web, Masonic Brother or not.
  4. Another section that Brother David Scheffert is going to start sending to me is the Minutes of the Meetings. Once these start to come in then I can post them on the website and those that can't attend can still follow along with what is happening.
  5. I am slowly collecting some Masonic Clip Art from other sites as I re-look for ones that I messed up. Once I get some good items, I will create the link to that page.

If anybody has a problem with the Web Site, click the link on the bottom of the main page and send an email to the Web-Master and let us know what the problem is and we will take a look at it. This is no guarantee that we can fix it, but we will try our best.

Thank you and Fraternally Yours,

Steven Scheffert

Membership and Activities Committee Report

-Sr. Warden Marc Peterson

This issue of the MRVL newsletter comes very close behind the last issue. This is an effort to keep you, the Brothers, informed of activities and lodge news ahead of the first regularly scheduled meeting on the first Tuesday of the each Month.

For that reason the Membership and Activities Committee would like to concentrate on the next big activity of the lodge, which is the Third Degree for our THREE newest Brothers.

Third Degree Ceremony

When: Saturday Morning, December 7th

8:30 AM to 12:30 PM - Lunch to follow.

Where – Shakopee Lodge Hall

Brothers, do you remember the anticipation and thrill of your own 3rd degree and being raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason? This is why the Brothers of the Membership committee encourage each of you to be present at this ceremony. Come and experience the pride and excitement of these three new Brothers as they start, as YOU have done, their journey in Masonry.

There are still some "No memorization" parts available for this upcoming degree. The only criterion is that you be available on Wednesday, December 4th for the practice session ahead of the ceremony on the 7th.

BE THERE, AND WELCOME OUR NEW BROTHERS INTO THE FRATERNITY.

Membership Committee Members

Brothers - Mike Kottwitz, Jim Heyda, Don Conn, Bill Boyle, Gary Eagan, Mike Pierce, Bob Davis, Marc Peterson

Christmas Humor

Had the three wise men had been three wise women, they’d have asked directions, arrived on time, helped deliver the baby, cleaned the stable, made a hotdish and brought practical gifts.

A woman goes into the post office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards. "What denomination?" the clerk asked.

"Oh, good heavens! Have we come to this?" the woman asks. "Well, give me 50 Catholic and 50 Baptist."
