Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6
"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"
'The Plumb Line'
From the Grand Master
May 2004
Greetings from the Grand
East.
The Grand Master’s schedule is filling up.
The petitions are now being processed for the One-Day-to-Masonry in Fergus
Falls on Friday, May 21st. They should be submitted to the Grand Lodge
office by May 13th so the office has time to get the details out to the
candidates and the Brothers who will accompany him. But it is not too late
to get your candidate’s petition processed. If your lodge is running out of
time, get in touch with the Grand lodge office right away. Perhaps a
dispensation can be arranged to waive the first reading or to schedule a
special meeting. Corner Stone Lodge No. 99 in Fergus Falls has been working
overtime to insure that this is another great day for Minnesota Masonry. The
last several One-Day-to-Masonry events have been well attended and first
class events. Let’s make sure we can say the same about May 21st in Fergus
Falls. Any questions about the day, meals, activities, costs, etc., just
contact the Grand Lodge office.
An open house and Cornerstone ceremony is planned for June 26th in Elk River
for the opening of the Scottish Rite Child Language Disorders Clinic. You
can check with the Gary Odegard in the Grand Lodge office for the further
details on the new clinic, its exact location and the schedule of events for
June 26th. Here is what we have so far: tours of the new clinic will start
at 9:00 a.m. and a program will follow at 10:00. Here are the directions to
the new clinic: heading north on Hwy 169, turn right onto Main Street, take
the first left, Zane, then take the first right, 183rd Circle NW. Up the
hill on your right will be the clinic, 11090 – 83rd Circle NW, Elk River.
The clinic is up on the hill behind the Wal-Mart store.
The Cornerstone previously announced for June 12 in Bigfork has been
cancelled.
We have also been asked to perform the Cornerstone-rededication ceremony in
Duluth on September 18. Duluth Masons will be celebrating the 100th
Anniversary of the Lake Avenue Masonic Temple with an all day event. I am
thinking about having the Grand Lodge Corporate Board meeting that is
scheduled for that day at the Lake Avenue Temple and inviting all interested
Masons to attend. Keep that date open also.
A new lodge is being planned for the MetroWest area. The new lodge will meet
during the day for the convenience of their brethren who are no longer
comfortable driving at night. Watch the Minnesota Mason for more information
on this exciting development. Members living in the nearby area will
probably receive an invitation to attend one of the planning meetings, but
if you are interested in becoming a Charter Member of this lodge you need
not wait. You can contact W. Brother Lloyd Anderson at 612-781-2517 or by
E-mail lcanderson@ev1.net. Lloyd has all of the details and loves to talk
about them!
Hiram Lodge is hosting an Open House for the new Grand Master. It will be
held on Sunday afternoon, May 16 at the American Legion in Forest Lake from
2:00-4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Take I-35 to Forest Lake-
turn east into Forest Lake- the Legion is on the north side of the Street
one block before you drive into the lake. Hope to see you all there.
Don't forget the memorial service for Past Grand Master Franklin Emrick-
Saturday, May 8, at the United Methodist Church in Hastings. Services begin
at 11:00 a.m.
