Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6
"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"
'The Plumb Line'
From the Grand Master
August 2004
Hope everybody is having a great summer. Mine has been very eventful to
say
the least.
The Minnesota Masonic Foundation offers a free gift to every lodge in the
state of a Memorial Plaque. The plague is to be used in conjunction with
the
Tribute of Affection booklet that is given to the family of a deceased
brother at the time of his Masonic Funeral Service. To every lodge that
requests it, the Foundation will have this special plaque engraved with
the
Lodges name and number as well as have it shipped along with several
booklets. Lodges may receive this free gift by emailing or contacting the
Grand Lodge office. Please allow several weeks for delivery.
The cornerstone ceremony for July 31 at the new St. Peter Community
Hospital
is set for 10:00 a.m. If you are in the area, please stop by and say
hello.
From there I will be going to Bemidji for the DeMolay Conclave.
Great progress is being made in reviving Education Lodge #1002. Bruce
Sherman is spearheading the effort and the lodge should be up and meeting
by
this fall. Interested parties can contact Bruce (Bruce.Sherman@comcast.net)
or the Grand Lodge office for further details. The response to our initial
announcements was been far more than we expected.
Also coming along nicely is Lloyd Andersonıs efforts to charter a new
lodge
in the west Metro area. This lodge will meet at lunchtime and is being
created for those brethren who donıt feel comfortable driving after dark.
Daylight Lodge No. 348 in St. Paul has been a great success for many years
and this new lodge should give many brethren the opportunity to attend
lodge. If you would like to contact W. Brother Lloyd for additional
information, his e-mail address is
lcanderson@ev1.net.
Plans are complete for the State Fair Booth and the KidsID program. Thanks
to the efforts of John Cool and Jacob Geer it is all organized well in
advance. A new booth has been purchased and all are encouraged to stop by
our station in the Education Building and see what Masonry is doing for
the
children of Minnesota.
Plans are also moving ahead for the fall breakfast meetings statewide and
you will see more information in the next Minnesota Mason newspaper.
Letters
will be going to all Masters and Secretaries in August. Please promote
this
activity in your travels to the lodges.
The new Language Disorders clinic is now open in Elk River and interested
parties who know of kids in need of this service should contact Gary
Odegard
in the Grand Lodge office.
Also, a new corporation has been formed to combine our efforts and become
more efficient in our charitable activities. The goal here is to increase
our charitable giving by sharing some of the work of our philanthropic
groups and getting more for the effort and resource that we expend. More
details of this exciting new initiative will be in the next issue of the
Minnesota Mason.
Well- thatıs about enough for now.
See you in lodge, My Brother.
Jerry Rhoads, Grand Master
