Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6
"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"
From Grand Master
Good afternoon my Brother, here is the last issue of the Plumbline that you will receive from me. Its hard to believe that this past year has flown by so quickly. Please accept my personal thanks for all that you have contributed to Masonry in Minnesota the past year and for all the you will do in the future. Now-a few notes of interest as we approach the Grand Lodge of Minnesota Annual Communication April 8th and 9th in Saint Louis Park at the DoubleTree Hotel.
Installation
This year’s ceremony of the installation of officers at the Grand Lodge Annual Communication will be one that everyone will want to attend. The attached invitation says it all. Andy Rice will be installed ( if tradition prevails) and will also take the oath of allegiance to our country and become a US citizen as part of the ceremony. The unique circumstance offers us all a chance to see him become a citizen of our country. Please plan to stay for the installation, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on April 9th.
Masonic Charities Corporation
After lunch on Friday, Eric Neetenbeek will be introducing a newly formed corporation that will allow us to double or charitable efforts in Minnesota. By managing our assets in a more efficient manner, we can greatly increase our charitable endeavors and contribute to the welfare of our fellow man. This is a major change in how we manage the assets of our charitable corporations and will be of great importance as we go forward in Minnesota.
Masonic Cancer Center Fund, Inc.
On Saturday morning at the annual communication, the Masonic Cancer Center Fund will be announcing a major fund raising effort in support of cancer research at the University of Minnesota. We have supported this effort for over 50 years with over $20 Million dollars in contributions. A major expansion of the research effort is planned and we have pledged to take a lead role in funding this activity. You will get all the details at this year’s annual communication.
Great Breakouts
Several great breakout sessions are planned for the annual communication. Jim Tresner will be speaking on Albert Pike- and he is always fascinating. We will be introducing a new program called "Telehealth" which you will find exciting. Also- there will be breakouts for the Lodge Education Officers and for the District Representatives and Area Deputies. Eric Neetenbeek will be on hand to answer all questions regarding the new Masonic Charities Corporation. And we will have a presentation on the youth activities. Our leadership committee is preparing a presentation for all Wardens and Deacons to assist them in planning for their year in the East. Please plan to attend those break-out sessions that are of interest to you.
See you in Grand Lodge, my Brother
Jerry Rhoads, Grand Master
