Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6

"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"

Plumb Line for November 2005

Hello My Brothers,

I am happy to report that the fourth of the six area wide conferences for Masonic leaders was held in Duluth on October 22nd.  It was a great success and we are looking forward to two more area conferences on November 19th in the Metro Area.  The first of these will be for the Metrowest Area and held from 9:00 A.M.—Noon at the St. Louis Park Masonic Center located at 6409 Walker Street in St. Louis Park.  The second will be for the Metroeast Area and will be from 1:00 P.M.—4:00 P.M. at Tusler-Summit Lodge located at 1321 W. County Road B2, in Roseville.  All are welcome to attend.

____________

One-Day-to-Masonry is coming up!  We are now less than 90 days to the next One-Day-to-Masonry event. Your individual lodge should vote on your candidate(s) during your December meeting, which, in turn, means reading the petition in November, followed by the three investigations.  That means that petitions should be brought in now.  Our process of petitioning, reading, and interviewing is very important to our fraternity and is one of the fundamental differences between a fraternity and just a group of men. Brothers, let’s do our very best to see that the petitioning process is followed and that your candidate is kept informed as to what is taking place.  Now is the time to get those petitions in!

At the release of this Plumb Line the Masons of Minnesota have Contributed $$25,037 for Hurricane relief. Minnesota Masonic Charities has matched this figure with another $12,519. Employees of the Minnesota Masonic Homes contributed in excess of $5,000, also matched by Minnesota Masonic Charities with another $2,500. The Grand Lodge of Minnesota Board of Corporate Trustees also sent $31,000 to the Masonic Service Association’s Disaster Relief Fund and Prince Hall Grand Lodges for the benefit of the Grand Lodges, Lodges and Brothers in the areas devastated by Katrina. That is a total of over $76,000! And the contributions continue to arrive at the Grand Lodge office. Thank you, Brothers.
If you or your lodge would like to make a contribution, they are still needed and they are still being accepted at Grand Lodge office, 200 East Plato Boulevard, Saint Paul, MN  55107-1618.

Masonic Memorial Services
Grand Secretary Campbell is starting to compile a list of the capable and qualified Brothers who preside over Masonic Memorial Services in all areas of the state. While in  some lodges the W. Master carries out this duty, in most lodges one or two Brothers preside when called upon to do so. We would like to compile the list so that when a sojourning Mason is called to the Celestial Lodge Above and the Grand Lodge office receives the notification from his family or from his lodge, that we can mobilize the Masons in the local area to pay our final tribute to the Brother Mason. Please contact the Grand Secretary with the names of the Brothers in your lodge who are normally able to perform this service when called upon to do so. Phone 800-245-6050 or 651-222-6501 or e-mail masoniclodges--1@qwest.net.
