Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6
"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"
'
Plumbline for March 2006
I recently attended the North American Conference of Grand Masters, which
was held this year in Nashville, Tennessee. By the way, it was colder in
Nashville than it was here at home. Meeting with the leaders of all of the
Grand Lodges of the United States, Canada and even others from around the
world is kind of a humbling experience. But then listening to the leaders
discuss some of the problems they have, and some of their proposed
solutions, just makes me happy I am a Minnesota Mason. In so many respects
the Grand Lodge of Minnesota leads the way; not because of my efforts as
your Grand Master, but rather because of the efforts of the officers and
members of our lodges across the state. It was a good meeting and I was
proud to represent Minnesota Masonry.
Senior Grand Deacon Tom McCarthy hosted a preliminary brain-storming
session on February 11th, to talk about publicity in general and in
particular, the upcoming release of the movie based on Dan Brown¹s
best-selling book, "The Da Vinci Code." A follow-up meeting will take place
this evening, March 2nd, at the Minneapolis Scottish Rite at 6:30. If you
would like to have some input on how we should capitalize on this publicity,
please stop by the 33rd Degree Room on the lower level near the office.
The Grand Secretary tells me that the Grand Lodge Annual Communication
meal reservation forms are arriving daily, but also asked that I remind
everyone of the need to make your reservations soon if you have not yet
done so.
Remember, we are again at the DoubleTree Hotel in Saint Louis Park. You
would be wise to make your room reservations now (phone number 952-542-8600)
to insure that you get the best rate possible, $97.00 per night single or
double occupancy.
With the group of Brothers coming from Martello Lodge in England, we are
planning an exemplification of the second section of the Master Mason Degree
on Saturday afternoon, immediately after the installation of the new Grand
Lodge officers for 2006-2007. This will take place at the Minneapolis
Scottish Rite and will have all of the action, lights and sound that is used
during the One-Day-to-Masonry each year. If you have not had a chance to see
this, you should plan on doing so. Plus it will be nice for our Brothers
from Martello Lodge to see a good group on hand in support of their visit to
Minnesota. Please plan to attend if your schedule permits.
One more reminder about KidsID
The Kids ID booth at the 2006 Minnesota State Fair signup is under way.
As in previous years, lodges or individuals interested in volunteering can
sign up for one of three shifts of four hours each. The shifts are from 9:00
a.m.
- 1:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 pm, and 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Lodges that
