Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6

"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"

June 2006 Plumbline

This is St. John's Day weekend. Remember that this weekend has been designated as the time when all Masons in Minnesota are asked to attend their houses of worship and make a special financial contribution on behalf of Freemasonry in Minnesota. In early Masonic history, our brethren would annually form in procession and march from the lodge to the church on St.

John's Day, there to publicly hold a special worship service. This year's celebration permits brethren of all religious faiths to participate. It's not to late to offer a floral arrangement to your house of worship in the name of the Masonic fraternity members. Please use one of the offering envelopes found in each of the last two issues of the Minnesota Mason Newspaper to make your contribution when you go to church on Sunday.

Be sure to make your plans to make the Masons for Coach Mason Day at the Gopher football games vs. Temple University on Saturday, September 16th.

This game promises to be a great way to showcase our fraternity to the public. Full details on purchasing your discounted tickets will follow in the next edition of the Minnesota Mason. But as some advance notice, tickets will be $10.00 and included in that ticket price will be a coupon redeemable for a Golden Gopher t-shirt.

Metro Area Masons might want to think of a tailgate party before or after the game. One such event is planned for Brookview Park in Golden Valley (Located on the SW corner of Hwy 55 and Winnetka). A $25.00 ticket to this event will get you a game ticket, the t-shirt, round trip bus transportation from the park to the Metrodome, and a picnic of Burgers, Brats, Salads, Chips and Coffee and Soft Drinks.

If you plan a picnic or tailgating event, don't forget that everyone should think of bringing prospective members!

Speaking of picnics, Chapter 24 of the Masonic Motorcycle Club International will be having a picnic at the Masonic Home in Bloomington on Friday, July

21 from 4 8 PM. All motorcycles and their riders are welcome to attend.

Come on out and show off your bike to the residents of the home.

Hamburgers, brats, potato salad, chips, coffee, juice and dessert will be furnished by the motorcycle group for an evening of fellowship and visitation. Dinner will be served approximately 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Ride your bike to the home, show off some chrome and put a smile on the faces of the residents of the home. All motorcycles are welcome and the more the merrier. Chapter 24 would like this to become an annual event and to show the Minnesota Masonic Home residents that they are not forgotten and to spend an evening of fellowship and brotherly love.

Reservations are not a must, but a count would be nice. If you know you can make this evening, please contact WB Ken White at 763-545-0491 or by email at valkyrie99@comcast.net. If, at the last minute you decide to just take a ride and join us, please do so, there will be food available.

As W. Brother Ken says, łKeep the tire side down˛ and see you Friday, July 21st.

KidsID - There are just a few shifts left for the 2006 Minnesota State Fair KidsID program. Volunteers are asked to work a 4 hour shift. We will supply a ticket into the fair and a sharp Masonic polo shirt. We also welcome any family members to volunteer. If you are interested in participating, please contact Jacob Geer very soon at:

And speaking of KidsID - This is not just an event that takes place during the Great Minnesota Get Together. This is an event that is happening all the time and all over the state. For that we should acknowledge one of the hardest working volunteers ever to serve the Masons of Minnesota, W. Brother George Miller. He works tirelessly on behalf of the kids of Minnesota.

Keeping our KidsID program organized and scheduled is no easy task. In fact, George would welcome a little assistance with the program. It operates largely out of the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington so this would be an ideal volunteer opportunity for someone in the southwest Metro area, especially Bloomington and Eden Prairie residents. If you would like to pitch in, or if you need to schedule the KidsID program into your lodge, contact George Miller, georgeppanther@aol.com. In fact, even if you don't need the equipment right now and even if you can't help out right now, maybe you could drop George a note and just tell him "Thanks" for all of his efforts.

Have a save and happy 4th of July holiday!

Steve Johnson,

Grand Master
