Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6

"Issued with the Permission of the M.W. Grand Lodge of Minnesota"

Plumbline for April 09, 2007

Late last Friday afternoon my boss and fraternal brother mentioned that this would be the last Friday that the Grand Master of Masons in Minnesota worked at the Winthrop State Bank and Agency.  That statement certainly got my attention!

On a clear but definitely crisp early Sunday morning I traveled to attend the sunrise service at the Minneapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and said that this was the last Sunday I would wake up as their Grand Master.

There are many “lasts” that one can point to but now is really the time to reflect on the “firsts” that have been experienced during the past year. So many, it is impossible to recount them all- especially not in this written message. None of them would have happened without the dedication of you, the Masons of Minnesota. For that and all of the kindness and many courtesies that you have extended to me during my time at the helm, I simply say thank you.

The Grand Lodge of Minnesota Annual Communication program, breakouts, banquets and most importantly, the fellowship give us the opportunity to become better men, better lodges and a better Grand Lodge.  We have some exciting surprises planned, excellent entertainment and best of all; you get to renew your fraternal bonds with brothers from all over our great state.

J
oin with me in cheering on the new Grand Lodge line as they move up to face the challenges that face our fraternity.

Minnesota Masonry lost another leader last week, W. Brother Herbert L. Snyder, Past Grand Master of the York Rite’s Cryptic Masons of Minnesota. He died April 3rd in Brainerd after suffering a massive stoke. His funeral service is this morning in Brainerd.

Grand Secretary Campbell asked me to pass along that the Proceedings of the 2006 Grand Lodge of Minnesota Annual Communication are now available for viewing and downloading from the Grand Lodge of Minnesota website. They can be found under the “Lodge Resources” link from the main page, then follow the “Member Resources” link. Or here is the direct link: http://www.mn-masons.org/assets/3334.pdf If your lodge would like a copy on a CD, please let the Grand Lodge office know, grandlodge@qwest.net.

I am looking forward to greeting you and personally thanking you in Mankato!
