Minnesota River Valley Lodge #6 Mission
Statement
Our purpose is to enable the fraternal gathering of men
with like minds, which hold to a belief in God and to the tenets of Masonry,
so that they can share their ideals, thoughts, and gifts. Provide men with a
positive environment in which to socialize, building friendships and bonds
with other men and their families. The members of Minnesota River Lodge #6
fully support and promote the ideals of Freemasonry, however, we will not
only observe the tenets and principles of Freemasonry but we will practice
them in all of our daily dealings with each other and with the world at
large.
Objectives
Brotherhood
Within this Lodge, first and foremost among these principles, shall be
Brotherhood. Brotherly Love -- the Love of one Brother Mason for another --
the sharing of our skills and gifts with each other.
- Actions to define us as Masons
- Social gatherings
- Campouts?
- Groups of men sharing in a common goal
- Groups of men doing self-realization and sharing their hopes, dreams,
needs, etc. (sounds kind of like a 10-step program doesn’t it – so?)
- Helping each other in actionable directions
Self Improvement
Perpetuate and increase the goal of wisdom in our craft. To learn the
history, meaning, principals, and beliefs of Freemasonry and to then teach
them to all who express an interest.
- Self-Improvement
- Library of Masonic material (history, stories, ritual, overviews of
the various degrees, overviews of the responsibilities of each station,
etc.)
- Easy access to other web pages of information via links from our web
page
- Training
Assistance in
attaining degree competence
Presentations
- Invite speakers in on third Tuesday of the Month
Outreach
Provide support to all of our brethren in their time of need; and to aid
and assist our senior members, widows and children of brother Masons in
their time of need; and to aid our community in its time of need. Provide
benefit and service to the community. Through communication of our
principals and our objectives, and by our acts and examples, promote a
desire in others to join our brotherhood.
- Promotion
- Establish a Web Site
and assign responsibilities to specific sections to ensure it stays up
to date. Ensure that appropriate keywords are in home page to aid in
"hits" by the major search engines. Be cognizant of the fact that most
people will only have a 56 kb (or less) dial-up modem.
- Provide articles of
our activities (e.g. pictures of our open installation of officers, our
fun nights with pictures) in all of the local community weekly news as
well as in our Web Site.
- Develop brochures
and/or handouts about Masonry and OUR Lodge and our beliefs and our
tenets and our practices and just a whole bunch of stuff that will
strike a chord with like-minded men.
- Ensure that any
public gathering or service (e.g. Kolacky Days) displays our presence as
Masons and which Lodge we represent.
- Schedule visitations
to our elderly, disabled, and the widows and children of deceased Masons.
- Chaplin’s
responsibility.
- Develop a database of
all current members as well as our elderly/disabled brothers, their
widows, and the children of deceased Masons. Use this list for the
distribution of gifts at holiday times and to assist them when they may
need:
- Rides or other help
for grocery shopping, getting medications, church attendance, etc.
- Help in going to
medical/service appointments
- Someone to call for
consolation, help, or just communication with someone
- In getting to honors
or social programs that could involve them in a well-needed outing
- Include in database
a separate listing of DeMolay participants and use as candidates for
Masonry.
Financial
Develop and maintain a sustaining foundation of fiscal responsibility.
- Fund raisers
- Membership
- Property – Real
- New Lodge facilities
- Artwork and
Memorabilia
- Alter and ritual support accouterments
- Cook Wagon
